The Magic Of The First Times

The magic of the first times

What will they have the first times that we all like them so much? What is special about that first moment that we all crave? What is magical about that tickling in the stomach of not knowing what is going to happen, of facing something new? It is the magic that they hide the first times.

The first job, the first date, the first visit to a new city, the first time we see a movie, all these situations imply a new experience that supposes an uncertainty and makes us fear, doubt, arise in us. but also the desire, the surprise and thousands of emotions that accumulate and make our legs shake as they propel us forward.

When we face something for the first time, we are generating a mental plan, we want it to start, we imagine what it will be like, what will happen, what it will bring us and this generates in us an engine that pushes us and motivates us to teach others our better version of the new.

The first few times they hide thousands of secret doors, thousands of windows that we do not know, but we open them. If we overcome the first fear that protects us, we overcome barriers and discover new horizons, the first times are loaded with magic, because even without knowing what is behind us, we go to it with our best tools.

What if we were later faced with the illusion of the first few times?

There is the magic, once we know what will happen at work or when we meet the person we are going to meet or even when we know how the meeting we have today will happen, we lose part of the illusion of the first time. As Rafael Santandreu stated, if we faced situations with an open mind the first time we could discover something new every day, with the same enthusiasm, desire and strength as when we did it for the first time.

An example of the magic of the first times as stated by this author can be seen, for example, in students who spend a season on Erasmus. When the year begins, you find yourself in front of a lot of new people, a new city to discover, adventures, all are good expectations of a year ahead that will be great. On the other hand, as the months go by, part of the unknown becomes known … and the return journey appears as an ever closer reality on the horizon.

Leaving aside the experience that we can have in places where we are passing through, the city in which we live every day has corners that we surely do not know, there are thousands of activities that bring you closer to new people or alternative plans. In this sense, if you manage to get hold of the magic from the beginning and face the illusion of seeing a new city to discover, the power of the first few times each day will await you.

The illusion of the first few times is not in the situations, but in the desire that we put into it and the attitude with which we face them. The magic is built by us, so why not get up every day and build our first time?

What positive can we get from the subsequent times?

Every day hides the magic of not knowing what will happen, but if we go with our eyes fixed on what we already know, if we no longer give or hope for the best of each day, we will not be able to see how wonderful a new day is. We can know how the day will start, but not how it will end.

The first times they also hide nerves, fears, doubts, perhaps the later times we have learned from this and we are faced with new emotions and new tools that will minimize this slowing uncertainty and we can continue to improve.

Let’s draw a day with new first times, let’s get the positive out of the second, let’s create the magic to live with the illusion of “as if it were the first time”, and let’s do it with the passion of “as if it were the last”. Let’s not let the tickle and smile of uncertainty that comes with every first time be lost, even if it is the third, the fourth or the tenth.
