The kingdom enjoyed peace and harmony. Poverty, which had once painted the everyday landscape, had disappeared and citizens enjoyed helping each other. They loved and respected the Sultan, who had already ruled for 40 years. The story of the two slaves tells us that at that time no one imagined that everything was going to change suddenly.

The sultan had a son whom he had carefully educated . He knew he was his successor and wanted him to continue his legacy. So he got a teacher who patiently instructed him in the art of government. He did not want to lose all that harmony that they had worked so hard to achieve in the kingdom. Knowing that he was already old, he understood that his son would soon succeed him.

The sultan was wise enough to sense that his death was near. Therefore, he called his son and announced that he was going to abdicate. Then he recommended, very especially, that before any doubt or dilemma , he always consult with his heart.

Likewise, the sultan explained that being sovereign also implies being humble. Only by knowing and understanding their own interests and needs, the ruler could govern them as well. He also insisted that power had the ability to obscure judgment and cloud reason. The only way to avoid it was by keeping your spirit free and your heart clean.

According to the story of the two slaves, the sultan’s son listened carefully and promised his father that he would live up to the kingdom he was going to inherit. The next day he was crowned in a lavish ceremony . Just three weeks later, the old sultan died  in his bed.

The government of the sultan’s son

It tells us the story of the two slaves that the sultan’s son began ruling as his father had. However, before long he thought it was time for his kingdom to expand. For this reason, it began to invade neighboring nations and in a short time its territories were remarkably expanded. The military companies also left him new subjugated peoples, whom he enslaved. He thought his own people would be better off with slaves.

The new sultan felt more and more powerful. That is why he decided to continue expanding his domains as far as possible. The continuous war ended the tranquility in the kingdom and the inhabitants became irritable and distrustful. Ambition began to take hold of everyone, mainly the sultan who was no longer the kind young man he was before.

According to the story of the two slaves, there were some inhabitants who tried to rebel against the new sovereign. They thought he was acting badly and they longed for times gone by. The president discovered them and had no mercy with them.

Several years went by like this and there came a time when everyone feared their new sultan. No one dared to contradict him, a kind of drug that made him more and more intoxicated. He thought he was the most powerful man on the planet and that everyone in his nation had an obligation to follow his orders, whatever they were. To measure his power, one day he decided to go out through the streets of the capital dressed in his best suit on the back of his most imposing horse.

The sultan rode his horse through the main streets. When they saw him, they all bowed their heads and bowed to him. The silence was almost absolute. When they passed through a humble hamlet, a man in rags came out of his house. He stared at the Sultan and did not stoop or offer his reverence. The new sultan looked at him with contempt and ordered him to crouch down.
